A guide to Nutribl’s CORE, Classic, and Premium label design services - plus the free option of designing your own artwork.

Label design is a one-off cost. You pay for it once, your design is uploaded to your account, and from that point onwards your branded labels are automatically printed and applied to every private label order you place.

You have four routes to a finished label: three paid design services (CORE, Classic, and Premium) and a free option where you design your own artwork. The right choice depends on how much custom design work you want, how many products you are launching, and your budget. This article walks through all four routes - full price table at the bottom. For a complete view of how label design fits into the wider private label process, see how to set up your private label range.

Two important things to understand before you read the prices: First, every paid service has a setup cost for a new brand (template + your products) and a separate, lower cost for adding products to an existing template later. Make sure you are looking at the right one for your situation. Second, bundle prices (5, 10, or 20 products) are total prices for the whole bundle, not per-product prices. If you want to model the per-product cost, divide the bundle price by the number of products.

The three paid design services

Each design service is a different level of customisation. Whichever you choose, the work is led by a dedicated design coordinator and includes online proof approval before printing.

CORE Template Design Service

Our budget-friendly option. You choose from a range of pre-designed label templates and we customise it with your logo and brand colours. There is no bespoke design work - the layout is pre-set. This keeps cost low and turnaround fast, which suits clients who want to spend their budget on marketing rather than design.

Best for: first-time launches, tight budgets, or testing a product idea before investing in custom design.

Classic Design Service

A tailored design built from your logo, brand colours, and style preferences. You receive:

  • A custom label design that is brand-focused, consistent, simple, and impactful
  • Up to two design elements and choice of badges
  • A consistent design applied across your full range of products
  • A rendered product image with your new label on it for use in marketing
  • Suggested label text files so you can proofread and confirm the regulatory information
  • A dedicated design coordinator to support you through the process
  • Up to two rounds of revisions on your concept

Best for: clients who want a custom-built brand identity but a clean, consistent look across all products.

Premium Design Service

Everything included in Classic, plus the design freedom to make each product in your range visually distinctive. The Premium service adds:

  • Multiple graphic elements per label (shapes, gradients, backgrounds, patterns, or images)
  • Colour variation across your range
  • Image variation across your range

Best for: clients who want each product in their range to have its own visual personality while staying within a coherent brand system. Particularly suited to retail, lifestyle-led, and marketplace brands competing on shelf appeal.

Design your own labels (no design fee)

If you have a designer or design skills of your own, you can supply finished artwork files and we will upload them to your account at no charge. This is the right choice if you already have a brand identity or a designer you want to work with. Files must meet our format and compliance requirements before we upload them - for the full file format, dimensions, bleed, safe zone, and label content checklist, read how to design your own labels.

Best for: clients with their own designer or in-house design capability, or anyone with a fully developed brand identity that they want to apply to their range.

Note: while there is no design fee, you remain responsible for the regulatory accuracy of your label content. We provide suggested label text files for every product to help - see the design-your-own article for detail.

New brand setup vs adding products to an existing template

Every paid service has two commercial structures. The first is setting up a new brand from scratch (which includes the template design work). The second is adding more products to a brand template you already have in place. The "add to existing" prices are substantially lower because the template work is already done.

Setting up a new brand

If you have not used Nutribl design services before, you are setting up a new brand. This includes:

  • Creation of your brand template (layout, logo placement, colour use, style)
  • Application of the template to your first product or bundle of products
  • All revisions and approvals

We offer four bundle sizes for new brand setups: 1 product, 5 products, 10 products, or 20 products. The more products you set up at the same time, the lower the per-product cost - bundles save substantial money over single-product setups if you are launching multiple products.

Adding products to an existing template

Once you have a brand template in place, adding new products is a separate (lower-cost) purchase. The brand template, layout, and colour decisions all carry across to the new products, which is why these prices are lower than a new-brand setup. Each of the three services has explicit add-on SKUs for adding 1 product or 5 products to your existing template. The exact prices are in the second table below.

What you need to provide

Whichever paid service you choose, design begins as soon as we have:

  • A high-resolution copy of your logo. If you don’t have one yet, see our logo design service.
  • Your colour preferences
  • Your business contact details (these go on the label)
  • A list of the products you want in your own brand

Optional but useful:

  • Reference images that match the feel of your brand
  • Royalty-free images you want to use (we can source these for an additional charge if needed)
  • Barcodes (sourced from GS1 or similar - these are incorporated into the label)
  • Any unique product names, tag lines, or descriptive text edits you want included

After design - what happens next

Once your design is complete, we upload the label files to your trade account. You log in, review the proofs, and approve them online. From the moment your designs are approved, every private label order you place will automatically use your branded labels - they are matched to orders by SKU, so there is nothing further you need to do at the time of ordering. For the full step-by-step process, see what happens after I order label design?.
