From 28th October 2026, every private label we print is produced on our new Epson ColorWorks D6000 printers. They replace the Epson ColorWorks C8000 printers we've used until now, so this is an upgrade within the same family of professional label printers rather than a change of system. This article explains why we've made the change, and the improvements you may see.
Why we changed
Our previous printers used pigment ink, which sits on top of the gloss label surface. It looks great when it leaves us, but bottles can rub against each other in transit, and on a long journey through pallet networks, couriers or a fulfilment centre that rubbing can scuff the print or transfer ink from one label to another. To protect against it we were wrapping and separating bottles with extra lining, which added time to every order and still wasn't foolproof.
The new printers use dye ink, which is absorbed into the label's gloss coating rather than sitting on the surface. In our testing, labels printed this way stand up to handling far better, without losing the professional finish brand owners want.
What it means for you
Your labels are much better equipped to arrive looking as they did when they left us, whether they're going to your customers, into Amazon FBA, another 3PL or onto a retail shelf. Because bottles no longer need the same protective wrapping, we can pack and dispatch private label orders faster, with less packaging. Epson have developed this printer specifiaclly for this purpose.
Nothing changes in how you work with us. Artwork is designed and sent in exactly the same way, label sizes stay the same, and our minimum order stays at 10 units per product.
Will my colours look different?
Yes it is possible that you may notice a difference. Some variation is simply part of printing: even two identical C8000 printers, or the same printer on different days, do not produce the same shade every time. Every printer and ink combination reproduces colour in its own way, so a change of ink type brings small shifts too.
We have invested considerable time in extensive testing across a wide range of colour variations to ensure consistency with our previous printers, with the vast majority of colours reproducing extremely closely, while benefiting from richer colours and deeper blacks. The only area where we have noticed a subtle variation is with certain shades of green, which may appear a little cooler in tone than before. Please read the following article for more detail Colour matching in label printing.
For most brands the difference won't be noticeable. If you do notice a difference we hope that you feel it is a positive improvement in the quality and durability and not a difference in colours.
