Activated Charcoal is an 'active' ingredient. Due to the hygroscopic nature, it is porous substance meaning it can attract and absorb moisture from the air. As it absorbs moisture, it can release small amounts of heat or create pressure changes inside the packaging, which can cause it to warp. It can also absorb other gases from the environment, so when exposed to even slight changes in temperature it may release these adsorbed gases back into the packaging wh can again cause it to warp.

We store our products at a controlled temperature but this ingredient is particularly sensitive to even slight changes, we can see the packaging move/change and change shape - this is not in any way a negative reflection of the product in fact it is the opposite, showing that the charcoal is active and doing exactly what it is supposed to.
